Meals are prepared within the nursery by our Kitchen Manager, Emma and Kitchen Assistant, Leah.
A varied menu will be available and the emphasis is on fresh produce. Individual food preferences and dietary requirements will be accommodated. We have been awarded 5 stars ‘Very Good’ following our most recent inspection by environmental health in relation to Food Hygiene and Health and Safety.
Our cooks endeavor to ensure all food served at the nursery is attractive, tasty and wholesome. A brand new state of the art kitchen has been fitted at the Nursery with every modern convenience allowing our cook to provide healthy nutritional meals within a well equipped, clean and very functional kitchen.They use as much fresh produce as possible and all our eggs come from the nursery’s chickens which are collected each day by the children.
Emma and Leah have recently introduced skill-based bakery and cookery sessions for the children. These sessions are held regularly and in addition to learning how to bake, the children learn to focus and concentrate on what they are making. These sessions also help develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, as well as using concepts such as weight and volume, and skills, such as pouring, spreading and slicing. They make biscuits, cakes and often make bread, sometimes to look like hedgehogs! This is a fabulous and fun-filled learning experience for the children.
