Preschool provides an imaginative and creative learning environment for children from the ages of 3-5 years.
Preschool children have direct access to the separate learning room providing children with a rich learning environment to aid each child’s development. The children will learn advance techniques such as Jolly Phonics system to develop language and literacy skills and is consistent with the methods and techniques used in schools.
Preschool comprises of “Lower Preschool” and “Upper Preschool”. Upper Preschool children are in their final year at nursery and are prepared for their transitions to school. Upper Preschool children have use of our “learning log cabin” each day. This is designed to replicate a class room environment to prepare children for their transition to school. Both Preschool Classes benefit from their own direct access to the garden/ play area with climbing frame, slide and swings, obstacle course and sand ship ‘Feathers Galleon’ for hours of imaginative play. Rainy weather does not mean that children stay indoors as we also have a covered outdoor area where outdoor activities can still take place even in in most inclement weather!
Our Upper Preschool team is headed by Mandy and Michaela who are level 3 qualified nursery practitioners. The preschool room leaders are overseen by Emma, our early Years Teacher and one of our Deputy Managers. Our Lower Preschool is headed by Stacey, a very experienced nursery practitioner.
Preschool children are also provided with the opportunity to engage in swimming lessons at a local pool, engage in P.E. classes, to encourage children’s physical development, balance, spacial awareness and motor skills in a fun filled way!We also have a dance teacher who works with preschool children to promote movement to music, coordination and balance and Yoga lessons are provided to promote physical development, balance and coordination.
Preschool children also have the daily use of our Interactive Large Screen where they learn about colour and shape recognition, numeracy and literacy.
