Our imaginatively designed nursery setting offers children the facility to learn through play and exploration. Areas are specifically designed to promote creativity, interaction, role play, water and sand play and quieter reading areas. All rooms have access to our outdoor areas and allow children free flow from inside to outside areas.
All curriculum topics are delivered in a combination of fun child- initiated manner and some in an adult led way allowing children to learn at their own pace. Educational skills developed through the EYFS will prepare your child/ children for a smooth transition into full time education.
Our outdoor garden area is large and well equipped. We have constructed a ‘Yellow Brick Road’ for children to cycle along. There is an ‘Adventure Owl Hill’ for children to run up and down. The Owls Hill has pipes running through so that children can talk to each other through the pipes or put coloured balls through and run around to the other side of the hill to see where they come out creating lots of fun whilst learning. There is a large timber climbing frame with swings and play house and the babies have their own ‘Wooden Swiss Play Cottage’ and baby swing. In a corner of the large garden area we have a vegetable and herb planting area where children are actively encouraged to plant and water the vegetables and herbs and pick them when they are ready. The children also enjoy the facilities of the construction area where walkways can be created by the children as they use timer planks and crates assisting in areas of the childs dexterity, balance and coordination.Children can sit at the various picnic tables dotted around the garden to carry out outdoor activities such as arts and crafts or sit in our tree chairs to enjoy outdoor story time. Our sand boat is also now complete and has been named ‘Feathers Galleon’ with sand inside and two ships wheels for the children to steer the boat, this is providing hours of creative and imaginative fun for the children.
All curriculum topics at the Nursery are delivered in a fun non pressurised manner allowing children to learn at their own pace.
Educational skills developed through the EYFS will prepare your child/children for a smooth transition into full time education.
Children aged 0-2 years enjoy the facilities of our separate baby rooms, “Baby Owls” room for babies aged 0-12 months and “Wobbly Owls” room for babies aged 13 months to 2 years. The Nursery has its own baby access and its own garden/ play area. The “Baby Owls” room and the newly constructed “Wobbly Owls” room are linked together with double doors allowing babies and toddlers to come together for some activities but when the babies need peace and quiet the baby room doors can be closed off thereby enjoying the best of both a stimulating environment and a peaceful relaxing environment.
Children aged 2-3 then move into the adjoining “Wise Owls” room with its own access to the garden/ play area and its own adjoining rest room / sleep room.Wise Owls room provides children with a structured, consistent and varied curriculum following the EYFS.
Children from Wise Owls will move into Preschool Owls when they reach the age of three, self help skills are further encouraged and children can actively participate in the planning of curriculum activities which will help with your child’s learning and development.Adult led activities are set out during the day which are created from the children’s individual planning. As well as having the opportunity to join in with adult led activities the children are also encouraged to make their own choices and choose activities which are of interest to them.the children are encouraged to participate in creative, tactile and messy play activities.
Preschool Owls room will provide the opportunity for children to develop and learn through exploration and creative play. Within Preschool our well qualified and experienced staff assist the children with their learning and development in preparation for “Big School”.
Our unique Parents Area has received very positive feedback. The parents area is fitted out with comfortable leather settees and an area for those working parents to carry on their business whilst waiting for their children. A desk and laptop with internet access is available for parents use. This area was designed specifically to ensure all parents feel welcome within the nursery and enjoy a coffee after dropping off their child or waiting to collect their child. If a parent is a little concerned about leaving their child in the early stages of a new placement they are welcome to stay and use the parents area until they are completely happy their child has settled.
